2009 Why might SolidWorks 2010 (or SolidWorks Explorer 2010) not start after rebooting the computer?4 [: i1 d" G) K: c

Microsoft Windows® XP 32-bit + specific Data Execution Prevention (DEP) settings.
3 U1 Y2 k4 `! o( a9 f0 ^% mThe problem has been submitted to the SolidWorks Development team with the SPR below:
& M* ?: H6 ~; q' Z& }" QSPR 524232: SolidWorks 2010 no longer starts after the computer has been restarted. Note that using another user account to start SolidWorks via Run As allows SolidWorks to start until next reboot...

4 I; z. D, d7 W% s; P, KThe workaround to this is as follows:$ x* P9 N- n" Q/ `3 C. A' E
1. Right Mouse Button on My Computer and select Properties, X! ~3 D3 ~, U1 k3 i& k9 G
2. On the Advanced tab>Performance>click Settings( x$ D9 a+ z) g. P6 ?& H. ~
3. Go to the Data Execution Prevention tab and most likely the setting "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" will be active
1 z( u: w R4 a6 H4. In the exception list see if Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) is listed. If it is, then select it and choose to Remove it from the list
$ ?: N8 |2 [4 y5. OK out of all settings windows and reboot.- w9 x( P Q( d) p$ k D4 [3 l$ l& }

Special case:
$ F+ V/ w5 O# w( d0 t# HWhen doing Step 3 above if the user currently has the option "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" active, then do these alternate steps:
0 n( i9 |0 s9 j4 u. a4. Toggle the other DEP option on so the list of possibly previously specified exceptions can be accessed! r# z- P, H, o# g2 m; J
5. If Windows Explorer is in that exceptions list, then do the following process: o1 x# L1 k' s+ W' ]
a. Remove Windows Explorer from the list
, y6 G+ w8 N2 b X c/ L9 y& h b. Reboot- {) ]& A1 J' P" |8 k/ E
c. Go back in the DEP interface again and set the option back to “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"
3 W5 n- L; C: t7 ~# ^9 H; ^ d. Reboot once more. 9 \( H9 c% ]6 c/ w
