2009 Why might SolidWorks 2010 (or SolidWorks Explorer 2010) not start after rebooting the computer?6 V0 F" ~2 M0 e# ^+ s

Microsoft Windows® XP 32-bit + specific Data Execution Prevention (DEP) settings.
, N& W$ B) Y* j# b% k/ e$ e# AThe problem has been submitted to the SolidWorks Development team with the SPR below:
6 @, C2 Q ]; z) n9 a, [) SSPR 524232: SolidWorks 2010 no longer starts after the computer has been restarted. Note that using another user account to start SolidWorks via Run As allows SolidWorks to start until next reboot...) n# f& _8 v, O- y, G+ A6 T
8 ^" b8 W! Y @0 pThe workaround to this is as follows:/ G! x, x; k3 W
1. Right Mouse Button on My Computer and select Properties- ]; r1 g' ~$ w0 \ t1 v, B$ |0 K3 e
2. On the Advanced tab>Performance>click Settings
! F3 S. ~& i+ Z3 J* f- X. f3. Go to the Data Execution Prevention tab and most likely the setting "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" will be active6 l t- K+ D( \5 x; L+ L8 x
4. In the exception list see if Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) is listed. If it is, then select it and choose to Remove it from the list5 Q2 d4 r6 j- R, L( W8 p
5. OK out of all settings windows and reboot.$ \5 T" m1 T' X' T6 l
6 j; j- H+ q$ \5 D0 @0 i# w. xSpecial case:
. I e, l' q2 `2 d9 Q: TWhen doing Step 3 above if the user currently has the option "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" active, then do these alternate steps:
2 ]6 }4 s) @% a/ p0 O# B4. Toggle the other DEP option on so the list of possibly previously specified exceptions can be accessed
& y$ k. Y7 B2 o5 \5. If Windows Explorer is in that exceptions list, then do the following process:$ [( _7 U% M. c6 ~9 M. F
a. Remove Windows Explorer from the list
6 M6 |! o, X/ e' O9 ^# g9 q; a4 U b. Reboot& X4 y8 q, S4 @4 k7 H8 l
c. Go back in the DEP interface again and set the option back to “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"
