This book is designed as a handbook with some basic information on polymeric composite
fabrication. It is prepared by considering beginners as well as technical personnel already
" k" K' F' l2 F. h: \; x& aworking in this area. For this reason, it contains basic principles as well as an up-todate
8 F( g- J+ B/ C# C4 T' w) A0 Ninformation on various aspects, including applications.
3 [+ o. R% _' R4 H' J% n# xThe book has seven chapters. Each of these were prepared by a group of experts from
% o; O) L8 t: C7 _" _7 ~: Q! fdifferent parts of the world. The first chapter, the introduction, gives some definitions
and classifications with some depth on the matrices and reinforcements for all types of
composite structures, including polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrix composites. More
0 I  }4 c5 L, v* A3 A5 v2 ^detailed information about constituent materials (matrices and reinforcements) is provided
in chapter 2. Different processing techniques of polymer composites are discussed in the
following chapters, briefly: open mould (in Chapter 3) and closed mould (matched die)
$ E* @; d4 t9 o( M" Aprocesses, filament winding (Chapter 4) and pultrusion (Chapter 5). The book ends with
* k$ h2 ~3 ^# athe machining and joining processes commonly used for polymer composite structures.
