+ z d- r$ d* b7 }, b! @7 t- b1 b% j7 s7 Y8 q7 r! j5 R# h
This is a known issue that only appears under the following conditions:" @' A& o2 l( k' W8 m
2 P/ w+ y& J4 F- ~1 F L1 J* YMicrosoft Windows® XP 32-bit + specific Data Execution Prevention (DEP) settings.# W$ d( ?6 }0 j$ k2 w, w& H" H4 h
The problem has been submitted to the SolidWorks Development team with the SPR below:: R6 a# w- T, F
SPR 524232: SolidWorks 2010 no longer starts after the computer has been restarted. Note that using another user account to start SolidWorks via Run As allows SolidWorks to start until next reboot...( k% n+ |0 F3 Y6 a: _ {8 K3 Z

The workaround to this is as follows:
! x' a3 O: r }" W1. Right Mouse Button on My Computer and select Properties
+ y3 M; A* W$ m H2. On the Advanced tab>Performance>click Settings! |, |- f' _! K- p2 g
3. Go to the Data Execution Prevention tab and most likely the setting "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" will be active
" T7 X! y0 E7 q- r" [1 ^' O! z8 [4. In the exception list see if Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) is listed. If it is, then select it and choose to Remove it from the list
+ A: Z+ g- @* A/ _0 U' _: L5. OK out of all settings windows and reboot.

When doing Step 3 above if the user currently has the option "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" active, then do these alternate steps:" K( m" Y% a- a, d3 S& a
4. Toggle the other DEP option on so the list of possibly previously specified exceptions can be accessed" u) m9 K; U6 K+ v' @. S
5. If Windows Explorer is in that exceptions list, then do the following process:
9 i$ f, Q& S! f8 E5 h8 A( c a. Remove Windows Explorer from the list
$ y" c- v% R- o; O; W9 g" \ b. Reboot
$ o+ P* W0 d8 z; n# y+ `' l0 R( p c. Go back in the DEP interface again and set the option back to “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only"
