Nanocomposite Soft magnetic alloys are used in many applicationsincluding, but not limiting to magnetics heads, transformers, choke coils, andmagnetic cores for pulse motors because of their low coercive fields, highsaturation magnetic flux density, high permeability, and low core loss. Formost of the currently commercial nanocrystalline soft magnetic alloys such asFINEMET and NANOPERM, boron is contained as a glass former. However, boron is arelatively expensive element. Therefore, boron-free alloys with propertiescomparable to those that contain boron would be of great economical advantage.
