This book is designed as a handbook with some basic information on polymeric composite
fabrication. It is prepared by considering beginners as well as technical personnel already
working in this area. For this reason, it contains basic principles as well as an up-todate
information on various aspects, including applications.
The book has seven chapters. Each of these were prepared by a group of experts from
3 e7 @% I! H7 ], Zdifferent parts of the world. The first chapter, the introduction, gives some definitions
! J- I7 _( C! Y* Q4 G; W- oand classifications with some depth on the matrices and reinforcements for all types of
composite structures, including polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrix composites. More
. `' f" j" K" }/ O- A1 w& sdetailed information about constituent materials (matrices and reinforcements) is provided
, a+ }/ x9 F9 r) w; c! Nin chapter 2. Different processing techniques of polymer composites are discussed in the
+ i/ S" z0 n. ?: X8 Wfollowing chapters, briefly: open mould (in Chapter 3) and closed mould (matched die)
/ o* p) |: J5 Sprocesses, filament winding (Chapter 4) and pultrusion (Chapter 5). The book ends with
8 W- m; ]: d3 ~6 T) M8 c& h1 j( I% _the machining and joining processes commonly used for polymer composite structures.
