This book is designed as a handbook with some basic information on polymeric composite3 q. u; O" _% d) a2 }
fabrication. It is prepared by considering beginners as well as technical personnel already
6 J/ m2 T2 j' [2 F* i: tworking in this area. For this reason, it contains basic principles as well as an up-todate
! Z5 G( U) J$ I( E9 V, {information on various aspects, including applications.8 J: A1 P4 u4 \5 \
The book has seven chapters. Each of these were prepared by a group of experts from
) U) J/ B6 [& `/ v Q. Y1 }different parts of the world. The first chapter, the introduction, gives some definitions/ m0 m0 Y: H' U t1 R! w
and classifications with some depth on the matrices and reinforcements for all types of; @/ V- y2 v, H w& y5 O% y. }: x
composite structures, including polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrix composites. More4 H: T4 U4 E) v. }, V
detailed information about constituent materials (matrices and reinforcements) is provided
. G1 Y4 o7 a0 T% X) vin chapter 2. Different processing techniques of polymer composites are discussed in the6 q( Y# Q. l# j. v% i
following chapters, briefly: open mould (in Chapter 3) and closed mould (matched die)% b4 U8 Y0 u6 E2 q7 d
processes, filament winding (Chapter 4) and pultrusion (Chapter 5). The book ends with$ y, q, I% c1 C# y3 n4 ]
the machining and joining processes commonly used for polymer composite structures.' ]' c7 h/ ?$ m# J* `
