( f! u9 U! R9 F% ^$ H# c       Delivery delays at 21st Century Shipbuilding have led to a Greek owner cancelling a contract.

Laskaridis Shipping of Greece has cancelled a handysize bulker at the South Korean yard.

9 C6 f! S! }6 `Commercial director Yiannis Lagarias confirms Laskaridis cancelled the 34,000-dwt Nireas in May, when the ship was due for delivery.

8 S: z$ |. P1 g' L  ULagarias says the yard was behind schedule on the bulker, Hull No 1002, and 21st has since sold it on to other interests.

Laskaridis booked the ship as part of a three-vessel series in 2008 for $36m each.

- M+ q! ^, M: ?, K( |7 [Lagarias says the price was negotiated down to $29m per ship once it was clear there would be delays.

In the end, Cebi Denizcilik ve Ticaret of Turkey bought the ship for a reported $26m, renaming it Minanur Cebi 1, for slightly more than Laskaridis’s offer. Delivery is now set for July.
