" N, T3 I/ _8 s) VChina has very large wind-energy potential. Suitable wind conditions for small-size wind generators application are found over 76% of the total country’s area, mainly in the North, Northwest and Northeast, and in coastal areas of China. These regions of high wind-power potential largely coincide with those areas in China that do not have adequate electricity supply. Until now, there are still 1.5 millions of households, about 7 millions of people are living in the areas where transportation is not convenient, living scattered and electricity consumption capacity is very low, so the people live in those areas are urgently demanding to solve their electricity application problem by using off grid wind generators, wind pumps and photovoltaic cells.

Many peasants, herdsmen, fishermen and others have experienced a rapid improvement in their standard of living, at present; they consider electrical household equipment as essential to their daily lives.

In order to meet these growing electricity demands, wind generators with capacities of 100W, 200W, 300W, 500W, 1kW, 5kW, 10kW and wind/PV hybrid power systems with capacities from 400W to 3kW, have been developed in China. In the past 25 years, great progress has been made with wind-driven off-grid power systems for household use in China.
# P; C) w, I2 R5 @By the end of 2007, about 390000 off-grid wind generators, with a combined capacity of 163MW, had been installed within passed 25 years in China. The most popular output capacity is 300W and 500W. Some of the installed systems have already exceeded their designed working life of 15 years and have been out of service. So, there is a big potential market in China for future growth of off-grid wind generators application. The facts have proved that the family electricity supplement of herdsmen，farmers and fishermen in remote rural areas can be solved by using small off-grid wind generators successfully.
