This book is designed as a handbook with some basic information on polymeric composite
* d; l9 ~* x- P' n* h4 afabrication. It is prepared by considering beginners as well as technical personnel already
0 D7 u! {" [3 i, ^2 Mworking in this area. For this reason, it contains basic principles as well as an up-todate: {* r5 h, B. V# f J: o+ D: _
information on various aspects, including applications.
" N& C0 p% R6 r0 c% C. eThe book has seven chapters. Each of these were prepared by a group of experts from- F$ x' c$ ^3 p+ R( E( P' Y, G
different parts of the world. The first chapter, the introduction, gives some definitions3 I" O5 x' m7 i/ K# O- n9 g
and classifications with some depth on the matrices and reinforcements for all types of
! k, L9 B' y1 L3 y6 Qcomposite structures, including polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrix composites. More
# j$ I$ o' e% V$ w' Y% d4 udetailed information about constituent materials (matrices and reinforcements) is provided4 l" Z, D" I5 }$ {
in chapter 2. Different processing techniques of polymer composites are discussed in the. P6 j; ]7 V: m; ~
following chapters, briefly: open mould (in Chapter 3) and closed mould (matched die)7 z2 ^& e& ?9 Q
processes, filament winding (Chapter 4) and pultrusion (Chapter 5). The book ends with8 K: w3 T4 Z2 U7 D- a! I" @
the machining and joining processes commonly used for polymer composite structures.! w3 x# j: L( p' B4 f. R
