On May 12, Daewoo held a steel-cutting ceremony at its Okpo yard for a world largest ultra-large 18,000-teu boxship, ordered by AP Møller-Maersk of Denmark.
% R2 {! p, V9 o3 h" D4 v- S) P
3 @+ o+ w, J* L* GThe vessel is the first one of 18,000-teu series, contracted in February 2011.

After the ceremony, the Okpo-based yard is to construct the boxship, 400m in length and 59m in breadth, for about a year and deliver it to the Danish owner by mid 2013.

Meanwhile, H.R.H. Crown Prince Frederik and H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, who are visiting Korea to view 'Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea', participated in the ceremony.
